Architectural Review
Step 1 - Application
Complete Exterior Alteration or In Home Business Form. Click here for the Exterior Alteration Application. Click here for the In Home Business Form. Submit with all applicable information to the Covenant Advisor at the Village Office.
Step 2 - Review
Copies of all applications are provided to the AC members; agenda is posted in the lobby and on the website. AC members visit property to view site and plans. AC discusses application at meeting. Applicants are encouraged to attend; however, attendance is not mandatory.
Step 3 - Decision
AC records a vote on each application; tabled, approved as submitted, with provisions or amendments; as an exception or denied. An application may be tabled for lack of information, for an additional site visit or other concerns that may have been raised during the discussion. Application returned by mail to applicant. If denied, applicant may request a review by the full AC.
Harper’s Choice Architectural Committee approval may not be the only approval required. It may also be necessary to obtain approval from your townhouse or condo association and/or Howard County. Howard County permit information may be obtained by calling 410-313-2455. It is the homeowner's responsibility to obtain all necessary approvals.
Exterior alterations begun without prior approval of the Harper's Choice Architectural Committee are in violation of the Covenants and are at the applicant's own risk. The Guideline document for changes to property in Harper's Choice is available on this site as well as the Village Office located in Kahler Hall in the Village Center. Questions about the application or review process should be referred to the Covenant Advisor or Village Manager at 410-730-0770.
